Position Title: Director of Finance
Reports to: Chief Finance and HR Officer (CFHRO)
Job Classification: Exempt, Full-Time Employee (40+ hours/week, includes occasional travel)
Purpose of Position:
The Director of Finance will oversee day-to-day financial operations and select administrative functions of Girls Inc. of Santa Fe. Reporting to the Chief Finance and HR Officer, this role ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial processes. Additionally, the Director will oversee core operational systems, including IT, facilities, and office infrastructure.
Job Duties
Primary Responsibilities
Financial Management:
– Prepare timely and accurate monthly and annual financial reports for CFHRO and other internal and external stakeholders.
– Lead organizational and grant budgeting processes, including forecasting and cash flow projections.
– Oversee and facilitate key accounting functions performed by the Bookkeeper, including accounts payable and receivable (AP/AR), payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. Provide guidance, review accuracy, and ensure timely and compliant execution of all accounting tasks.
– Support CFHRO with audit preparation and coordination.
– Manage compliance with all required financial reporting (local, state, federal).
– Lead government and foundation grant reporting, ensuring accurate tracking, compliance, and timely submission of all financial documentation to funders.
Operational Oversight:
– Coordinate and manage office systems and infrastructure: IT support, equipment, phone systems, and supplies.
– Oversee facilities-related vendors and contracts (cleaning, maintenance, security, etc.).
– Collaborate on capital projects or space planning needs in partnership with the CFHRO and CEO.
Leadership & Collaboration:
– Supervise finance-related staff or contractors as assigned.
– Act as a thought partner in refining financial systems and operational efficiency.
– Support training and onboarding related to finance systems for staff and managers.
Skills Required
Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field (CPA or advanced degree a plus)
– At least 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit financial management (budget size of $1M+ preferred)
– Strong understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and nonprofit compliance
– Experience with budgeting, audits, grant reporting (including government and foundation grants), and financial forecasting
– Familiarity with QuickBooks, Excel, and financial databases
– Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive with excellent problem-solving skills
