Description

The Director of Development will be responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, and special events. The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop fundraising goals. The Director will also be responsible for overseeing Local Food Hub’s internal and external communications efforts. The ideal candidate should have excellent organizational and communication skills, non-profit experience, ease with interpersonal and relationship development, familiarity with fundraising best practices, and budgeting experience. The Director establishes and maintains relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders and partners. This is a leadership position that reports to the Executive Director.

Job Duties

Fundraising:

○ Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet the organization’s annual revenue goals.
○ Maintain and maximize donor database management program.
○ Identify and cultivate major gift prospects, as well as corporate and foundation donors.
○ Maintain relationships with existing donors.
○ Strategic identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and prospects through a variety of development strategies, including personal visits, proposals and events.
○ Prepare and manage annual fundraising campaign.
○ Plan and execute special events.
○ Assist in identifying and submitting application materials for new grant funding sources.
○ Stay up-to-date fundraising best practices.

External Communications:

○ Manage outgoing communications, including social media, press releases, organizational website, and newsletters.
○ Ensure that all external communications are clear, consistent, and aligned with the organization’s mission and values.
○ Work with the Executive Director and other Directors to develop and implement a public relations strategy that enhances the organization’s reputation and to gain broad support and increase presence in the community.
○ Other tasks as determined and assigned by the Executive Director.

Skills Required

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of success in major gifts as a gift officer visiting and soliciting donors, corporate and foundation giving, and special events.
• Experience with social media and creating and tracking social media campaigns.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse colleagues, Board members, and volunteers using a DEI lens.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write compelling donor communications and marketing materials.
• Experience working with fundraising software and donor databases.
• A passion and commitment to the mission and values of our organization.

Work Schedule

Hybrid/Flexible: Employees primarily work remotely with required in-person team meetings and occasional events.

Additional Info

Compensation: Compensation for this position is in the range of $65K-$80K depending on experience. Local Food Hub offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical coverage, paid time off, wellness days, retirement savings, and paid holidays.
