Overview

C3 is seeking a dynamic, engaging, highly-motivated full-time Director of Development to support our growing organization. The Director of Development takes primary responsibility for all aspects of revenue generation for the organization and will be supported by the Executive Director, staff, and an active, working Board of Directors which is willing to help advance key initiatives as C3 grows.

Reports To

This position reports directly to the Executive Director. Additionally, this role requires coordination of content with all team members, as well as the C3 Board of Directors.

Job Duties

Responsibilities

Fundraising Strategy and Execution

  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for foundations and individuals to meet C3’s annual budget expectations
  • Collaborate with C3 team members to draft and execute grant proposals, identifying programs and projects for foundation proposals
  • Manage timely reporting to foundation funders in compliance with grant requirements
  • Steward relationships with existing and prospective foundations and individual donors and solicit annual or multi-year support 
  • Design, implement, and maintain a recurring donor program
  • Plan and execute digital and offline fundraising campaigns to increase donor engagement
  • Acknowledge and thank funders promptly, ensuring personalized recognition of contributions

Corporate Giving/Sponsorships and Special Events

  • Collaborate with the Corporate Sustainability team to develop and execute a corporate fundraising strategy to meet C3’s annual fundraising goals
  • Maintain sponsorship materials
  • Coordinate event publicity, including public relations and advertising, and solicit in-kind marketing sponsorships from local media
  • Send thank-you notes and follow-up to sponsors in a timely manner

Donor Database and Systems Management

  • Maintain C3’s donor database, updating information, capturing timely and complete details of fundraising activities, and generating regular reports for analysis.
  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for database-related issues

Other Development Activities

  • Serve as the primary contact for all incoming phone calls to C3, providing a welcoming and professional demeanor to callers
  • Draft newsletter copy, regular articles, updates, invitation copy, etc., related to fundraising, as well as reviewing written drafts from members of the C3 team
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Skills Required

Key Skills

Successful candidates will have at least 3-5 years of fundraising experience, be highly organized, detail-oriented, and have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Excellent and efficient writing skills are a must. We seek an individual who shares our strong enthusiasm for the mission of C3 and who relates well with a variety of audiences. This role requires a responsive, action-oriented fundraiser who can operate both independently and as a collaborative team member within a fast-paced work environment. Other requirements include strong computer skills, including proficiency with G-Suite and Microsoft products.

Preferred: Demonstrated success in developing relationships and successfully soliciting and closing gifts from individuals, foundations, businesses, and organizations is preferred, as is successfully working with volunteers to manage and implement both large and small-scale special events. Experience with donor database integration and implementation and some background in marketing is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

 

  • Salary range is $70,000 – $90,000 depending on experience
