Director of Development

Building Goodness Foundation is seeking a motivated “people person” to join our small and dynamic team. The Director of Development is responsible for engaging and growing a diverse and robust donor base to support an annual operating budget of $500,000, and capital projects up to $2M. The Director of Development should have proven experience creating and implementing successful annual fund plans, a track record of inspiring people to join a cause, as well as event management and CRM database expertise. The successful candidate will enjoy seeking out people and building relationships within a culture of philanthropy.

This is a full-time exempt position. Hours are 9:00 – 5:00 Monday through Friday, with some evening and weekend work.
Salary: $55,000 – $65,000

Job Duties

Responsibilities

 The Director of Development is responsible for overseeing and ensuring excellence in all aspects of BGF fundraising to support projects and administration, while energizing all partners, staff, volunteers, and donors around the organization’s mission, vision, and core values in support of fundraising activities.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

▪         Ensure that BGF mission, vision, and core values are central to all fundraising and special events

▪         Create and implement the fundraising plan for BGF’s Annual Fund, in collaboration with the Deputy Director

▪         Build strong relationships with BGF’s donor community, ensuring donors and partners are informed of and inspired by BGF’s work

▪         Explore and identify prospective donors in collaboration with other BGF staff members

▪         Support the fundraising strategy, including partner relations, for restricted giving

▪         Support communications activities as it pertains to donor relations and engagement

▪         Support grant writing, research, and submission, in collaboration with the Deputy Director

▪         Support BGF’s Finance and Accounting Team, and the external audit

▪         Prepare monthly report of annual fund development activities for the Board

▪         Collaborate with the Deputy Director to predict and track incoming revenue to support annual fund and projects

▪         Ensure that donor database is current and effectively utilized to track and support donor engagement

▪         Lead and manage the Community Engagement Committee, comprised of staff, Board members, and volunteers

▪         Coordinate a holistic reflection process for each special event to ensure organizational learning and growth

▪         Ensure that donors and volunteers are provided with a meaningful experience that enhances organizational capacity and mission

▪         Adhere to best practices and emerging donor engagement strategies through ongoing research, education, and professional development

▪         Ensure the effective assessment of fundraising outcomes through data collection to ensure that future fundraising decisions are thoughtful and rooted in qualitative and quantitative analysis

▪         Function as an ambassador of the organization, effectively communicating the BGF mission, vision, and core values to the community at large and key stakeholders

▪         Foster collaborative dynamic with fund development staff and volunteers in support of BGF fundraising goals

▪         Collaborate with appropriate staff to maintain fundraising and special events portions of BGF website

9-5 M-F, some evening and weekend work.
