We are seeking a Director who has the passion to do a tough job and the love to nurture Crozet’s youngest students. The Director is responsible for leading the staff, operations, and administration of Crozet Avenue Christian Preschool. The Director has the freedom and responsibility to develop and maintain a Christian learning environment for preschool children and their families. This position reports to the Board of Directors.
Job Duties
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
– Manage all facets of the school’s operations: planning, leading and staffing.
– Maintain student files and records in accordance with Virginia state licensing requirements.
– Keep current on regulatory guidelines and comply with requirements as they pertain to a preschool/child day center (safety, licensing, etc.).
– Monitor the overall safety of the school, from staffing to space considerations.
– Coordinate and partner with Crozet UMC to ensure space and scheduling meets the school’s needs.
– Develop school calendar and related policies.
– Communicate regularly with families and parents, using both formal and informal methods.
– Meet with prospective parents and give school tours as requested, to enhance enrollment and community visibility.
– Ensure that monthly invoices are sent to families through Brightwheel.
– Submit receipts and reimbursements to the online portal for Bookkeeper.
– Organize accounts receivable as needed (field trips, event payments, etc.).
– Approve staff hours bi-weekly; review and approve payroll bi-weekly as prepared by Bookkeeper.
– Plan and execute summer programming: recruit staff, communicate with families, schedule with Crozet UMC, and other duties as necessary.
– Confirm administrative expenditures stay within the Board-approved budget.
– Confirm website content and social media accounts have up-to-date information.
– Other responsibilities as required for the daily operation of the school.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
– Supervise all staff. Delegate supervisory responsibilities to lead teachers (for their respective assistants) as appropriate.
– Update job descriptions as needed and host annual orientation for all staff.
– Hire and train new staff.
– Hold regular staff meetings to maintain team morale, increase workplace success, and to understand the needs of the teachers.
– Meet monthly with each lead teacher in a one-on-one setting, provide ongoing feedback, prepare semi-annual evaluations, and set goals. Utilize Gusto to help maintain HR/evaluation paperwork.
– Assist teachers in the classroom as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
– Attend Board meetings as requested, contribute items to the agenda and give a Director’s report at each meeting.
– Keep the Board informed of extra-budgetary resource requirements, staff concerns, parent concerns, and any child safety issues.
– Engage in professional development learning opportunities (i.e., formal trainings, informal meetings with other preschool leaders, online curriculum, etc.).
– Keep the Board informed of new staff and other notable changes at the school.
RESPONSIBILITIES TO THE COMMUNITY
– Uphold a Christian life of loving God and loving neighbors.
– Plan attendance at community events in order to represent Crozet Avenue.
Skills Required
– Ability to supervise and mentor staff effectively while promoting teamwork.
– Strong administrative skills with a focus on program management and development.
– Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
– Desire to see children grow, learn, and overcome obstacles.

Additional Info
QUALIFICATIONS
– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in early childhood education or child-related field required.
– Three to five years’ experience in early childhood education or child-related field preferred.
– Two years’ supervisory experience preferred.
– Working knowledge of developmentally appropriate, Christian-based education practices preferred.
– First Aid and CPR certification required.
