Description

Cheetah Conservation Fund seeks a Development manager who will be responsible for writing proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects and for submitting timely and accurate reports for all existing grant funded projects.  S/he will also develop strategic ask documents for identified key projects and cultivate a portfolio of high capacity donors.

 

This position supports the CCF’s overall plan to broaden its donor base and commit to long-term donor cultivation. The Donor Relations Associate provides recruitment and stewardship experiences for CCF donors. S/he possesses exceptional communication, strategic, and account management abilities.  S/he is especially competent in supporting and collaborating with colleagues.

Job Duties

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting a comprehensive range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation, government, and corporate sources.
  • Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for grants.
  • Works with the Executive Director to gather information necessary to report to corporate/foundation/government funders on current grant programs.
  • Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate/government donors.
  • Provide stewardship to current donors, and provide regular written updates (newsletters etc.) and personal communications to corporate, government and foundation donors.
  • Understand institutional history and programs.
  • Make appointments for Founder and Executive Director and/or program managers with foundation officers and other prospects as appropriate to secure funding.
  • Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting.
  • Track statistics relevant to development and provide the department with written materials necessary for donor stewardship (visitor number and diversity, educational program attendance, etc).
  • Provide development input for all written institutional materials (including Annual Report, Member magazine).
  • Develops strategic ask documents for individual donors.
  • Identify new and lapsed donors who can be cultivated into major donors by developing personal relationships and customized donation proposals.
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested.

 

Skills Required

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
  • Strong editing skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of fundraising information sources.
  • Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors.
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research.
  • Strong contributor in team environments.

Work Schedule

Flexible – 40+ hours a week

Additional Info

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of four years’ experience with grant writing.
  • Previous experience with non-profit fundraising.
  • Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to monitor and meet income goals.
