Title: Development Director

Reports to: CEO

Location: Waynesboro/Staunton, Virginia

Position Type: Full-Time or Part-Time (flexible based on candidate availability and experience)

Pay: Up to $30,000 per year part-time/Up to $50,000 per year plus benefits full-time

The Boys & Girls Club of Waynesboro, Staunton, and Augusta County is seeking a Development Director to lead our fundraising efforts and drive sustainable support for our mission. In this vital role, you’ll build relationships with donors and community partners in partnership with the CEO, support staff, and Board of Directors, directly impacting the lives of children and families in our region.

Job Duties

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fundraising & Donor Relations
Drive Annual Development Plan: Implement and manage innovative fundraising strategies across individual, corporate, foundation, government, and event-based revenue streams.
Build Meaningful Relationships: Collaborate wih the CEO and support staff to identify, cultivate, and steward donors, including young professionals and Club alumni for monthly giving initiatives. Develop key relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors to secure vital support.

Event Management
Lead Special Events: Organize and execute impactful fundraising events, including our annual golf tournament and reverse raffle, both of which have solid foundations and room for growth. Explore opportunities to develop an additional signature event annually. Collaborate with volunteer committees, the CEO, and support staff to meet fundraising goals through sponsorships, ticket sales, and donor engagement.

Marketing & Communication Collaboration
Ensure Cohesive Messaging: Partner with marketing and program teams to create and communicate compelling messaging across fundraising initiatives, ensuring alignment with our mission, goals, and impact.

Grant Development & Management
Align Funding with Impactful Programs: Seek out grant opportunities that support our evidence-based, outcome-driven programs, ensuring the financial sustainability of our critical services.
Collaborate on Grant Writing & Reporting: Work alongside the CEO and program directors on grant applications, compliance, and reporting, ensuring timely submissions and adherence to program requirements. Candidates without extensive grant writing experience are encouraged to apply if they possess strong donor relations and event management skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: 3-5 years of experience in development, fundraising, or a related field.

Skills: Proven track record in relationship building, donor cultivation, and successful event planning. Familiarity with donor databases and grant writing is preferred but not required.

Mission-Driven: A strong commitment to the Club’s mission to serve youth, particularly those from underserved communities, with a dedication to excellence in all development efforts.
