Position Objective and Job Summary
The Development Associate will function as the administrative support for the Chief Development Officer. The ideal candidate must be versatile, skilled, able to work independently and be a creative team player who takes initiative. Candidates should also foster teamwork, the ability to focus on donor needs, and the organization’s mission.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides administrative support for the Chief Development Officer: Donor Perfect data base maintenance, filing, preparing correspondence, mailings both electronic and hard copy, photocopying, writing thank you notes, sending mail and express packages, arranging meetings with donors, making donor calls, some out the door fundraising
- Provides administrative support for the Advisory Board
- Willingness to become black belt level Donor Perfect user
- Analyze and assess information from local, national, and international resources; financial and philanthropy reports; references (both printed and electronic); and Horse Center files
- Utilize quantitative criteria, including income, assets, liabilities, and giving patterns to evaluate each identified prospect’s potential and propensity to give
- Identify, obtain, and interpret detailed financial and legal disclosures including corporate reports (10K, proxy statements), foundation tax reports (IRS 990-PF), and state, county, and court documents (corporate records, assessment records, probate cases)
- Evaluate research results to develop and implement further research strategies utilizing ethical intelligence-gathering techniques of the information profession
- Manages small events
- Creates spreadsheets and presentations
- Manages multiple priorities at one time while meeting deadlines
- Maintains foundation and individual donor files
- Responds to donor queries regarding philanthropic giving
- Plans, develops, schedules, and manages projects to completion
Work Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.
- Educated on the equestrian sport preferred
- Understanding and/or experience in development/fundraising
- Donor Perfect experience preferred
- Minimum 2 years’ previous experience as an administrative assistant
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office and Adobe Acrobat
- Exemplary planning and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Working knowledge of office practices and procedures
- High-level verbal and written communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with a variety of constituents and represent the Development Department and Foundation in a professional manner
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- High level of discretion, confidentiality, judgement, and patience
Working Conditions:
- Minimal evening and weekend work is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Minimal lifting and carrying.
- Work in a detail-oriented and deadline-oriented office environment.

Compensation:
Part time – 20 hours per week. $24/hour
