We are seeking a Community Engagement Manager for our client project: HOMES a growing, non-profit organization using an all-encompassing approach to housing challenging the misconceptions of what defines affordable housing through the production and preservation of high-quality affordable homes, large-scale home repairs, and improved accessibility and energy efficiency for existing homes. project:HOMES owns and manages a manufactured home community, Bermuda Estates, and serves residents of that community with site improvements, unit repairs, unit replacements and resource coordination.
The Manager is the staff liaison and community advocate for Bermuda Estates residents and will coordinate the park’s programming and events, maintain trust in the community, and support other community engagement initiatives. This non-supervisory role reports into project:HOMES leadership.

Project:HOMES employs 50 team members with a budget of approximately $18M located in Richmond, VA (easy access on and off the Midlothian Turnpike and Chippenham Parkway.) Go to www.projecthomes.org to learn more!

Job Duties

• Provide Spanish-English interpretation between clients, staff, and partners, when necessary.
• Provide written translations of communications and program applications for Spanish-speaking clients.
• Lead community engagement efforts in Bermuda Estates.
• Plan and execute community meetings and events in Bermuda Estates.
• Identify donation and volunteer opportunities in Bermuda Estates.
• Conduct office hours on-site at Bermuda Estates to build trust with the community.
• Manage Resource Coordination program in Bermuda Estates. Coordinate programming, classes, and resources for park residents out of the Bermuda Estates Community Center.
• Work one on one with residents to provide support for individual needs.
• Work with Data Coordinator to demonstrate impact in Bermuda Estates and with the Latinx community served.
• Help project:HOMES build relationships with community partners that serve the Latinx community.
• Support engagement efforts for new projects such as the Bainbridge Apartments.
• Support Director and CEO with community engagement strategy at project:HOMES.
• Special projects and requests, as needed.

Skills Required

• Fluency in both English and Spanish, both verbal and written.
• Any combination of education and experience demonstrating the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
• Minimum 4 years related community engagement, social work or community organizing experience.
• Experience working with the Latinx community and/or various diverse, marginalized groups in the Richmond area.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent proof-reading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.
• Relays the tone and style of the original language.
• Sensitive to cultural expectations and differences amongst clients; demonstrates respect and patience in interactions.
• Understands and appreciates diverse communities served by project:HOMES.
• Skilled with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as experience with standard office equipment.
• Promotes organizational strategy for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
• Valid driver’s license to use project:HOMES &/or personal vehicle; clear DMV record
• Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. which is performed partially on-site at Bermuda Estates Manufactured Home Community (1-2 days per week); May need to travel to other locations for meetings or for other business-related needs, including the project:HOMES main office. Occasional evening and weekend work required as job duties and business demand.
