Rockfish Valley Community Center, in Nelson County, VA, is seeking a Community Engagement and Event Coordinator. This is a part-time sales and event planning role including a base salary with substantial additional commission potential for the right, self-motivated person. You must be energetic, outgoing, and highly organized. Set your own schedule—some work can even be done from home! This position is responsible for outreach to local minority communities, booking short-term rentals of the Center’s indoor and outdoor facilities, coordinating all RVCC events and liaison with outside event planners. Job Duties

  • Primary responsibility is to significantly increase the utilization of RVCC programs and facilities
  • Identify and Interface with other community organizations to inform them about RVCC and opportunities for use of facility for meetings, classes and events
  • Develop special outreach effort to invite participation of minority and marginalized populations in RVCC membership and events, and to utilize RVCC facilities for their own events
  • Take primary responsibility for Development Committee event planning, marketing and coordination, to include volunteer, vendor and sponsor recruitment, and supervision of event set-up, oversight and cleanup; and act as liaison with ad hoc event committees for event development, promotion and coordination
  • Take primary responsibility for event promotion and publications (flyers, banners, email blasts, newsletter articles), and media contacts (press releases, media interviews, community calendar posts)
  • Develop relationships with and encourage use of RVCC with event planners, wedding planners, Economic Development Authority, Tourism councils, etc.
  • Work with Music and Art committees to develop and promote house concerts and artist receptions

Skills Required

  • strong writing and oral communications skills
  • strong social media familiarity and marketing skills
  • strong initiative and self-direction
  • familiarity with common office software required, and graphics design software desirable
  • fluency in Spanish desirable

Work Schedule

  • Part-time starting at 20 hours per week; hours expandable commensurate with revenue development directly resulting from successful performance
  • mileage reimbursement for work-required travel
