Description
Wildrock, a nonprofit Nature Play and Discovery Center based in the Blue Ridge foothills, seeks an experienced Executive Director to co-lead the organization in collaboration with its current Executive Director and Founder. The Co-Executive Director will be responsible for administrative functions including fundraising, finance, human resources, facilities, and the occasional nature walk with kids. A sense of humor and playfulness is not only welcome but highly desired!
This new position will work closely with the Co-Executive Director, who is focusing on programs, as well as a team of highly committed and very passionate staff in a collaborative leadership model. Ability to work flexibly in a team-based environment, communicate well, and adapt on the fly are very important qualities in this position! A high energy, resourceful, innovative, and motivated leader will feel right at home at Wildrock.
Successful candidates will have:
- Knowledge and experience in youth development programming, preferably in a non-profit setting, related to nature, environment education and/or play either in a camp, school, children’s museum, or mental health setting.
- Experience supervising direct service professionals in a human service field.
- Personal commitment to EDI work; experience working in a setting committed to EDI work preferred.
- Strong interest in and aptitude for development work, community engagement, and collaborative programming. Genuine interest in meeting new people and telling Wildrock’s story.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Has or will develop the ability to speak as an expert and thought leader on the topic of nature play as a critical factor in youth development and community mental health.
- Strong understanding of best practices for financial oversight of nonprofit organizations, including budgeting, reporting to a board, and communicating with donors.
- Excellent organizational skills using google suite. Strong track record of excellent administrative skills related to leading a school, camp, or human service agency.
- High value on collaborative leadership, consensus management, stakeholder input, and outcome research.
- Entrepreneurial spirit evidenced by personally launching and following through with an ambitious project that required engaging the community and following through with a multi-faceted outcome. Enthusiasm and expertise to assist in growing Wildrock’s revenue streams.
