Description

Purpose: The Children’s Ministry Director teaches the faith and equips the saints for the work of ministry (Eph. 4:12) by providing a program of spiritual formation and education that draws, matures, and transforms spiritually children through fifth grade.

 

Accountability: Supervised by the Pastor and accountable to the Session’s Personnel Committee.

 

Particular Congregational, Community, and Staff Relationships: Families with children through the fifth grade, the Children’s Ministry Council, Preschool, volunteers supporting programs for children, and nursery staff.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Envision, plan and implement education and spiritual formation programs for children from nursery age through fifth grade.
  2. Evaluate annually and modify as appropriate children’s ministry curricula, classes, and activities (e.g., Sunday classes, summer programs, special events for children and their families) to ensure their contribution toward established standards.
  3. Support the recruitment and development of volunteers for children’s ministry programs, equipping them to lead the programs.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and experience with child development required; experience in children’s ministry or related field preferred; sound biblical knowledge, personal commitment to the Reformed theology of the PCUSA and Christian spirituality; demonstrated passion for working with children; strong organizational and relational skills and ability to work effectively on teams, show hospitality, and foster interpersonal relationships.

 

Hours: 32 hours per week, including Sunday mornings
