Description

Families Forward Virginia (FFV), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is Virginia’s leading organization dedicated to disrupting the cycles of child abuse, neglect and poverty. The organization was created in 2017 as a result of the merger of CHIP of Virginia, Early Impact Virginia and Prevent Child Abuse Virginia.

Supported by both public and private funding, Families Forward Virginia provides statewide leadership for and unifies support of a multitude of Virginia programs through evidence-based and multi-generational prevention strategies. Working with parents and their children, the statewide nonprofit provides Home Visiting Programs, Family Support and Education, Professional Development, Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Programs, Advocacy, Public Awareness/Public Education. FFV provides annual training and support for more than 1,000 Virginia parenting professionals and volunteers, and tracks service provision and actual outcomes for multiple services across the Commonwealth.

The Chief Executive Officer oversees a team of 25 professionals and supports more than 50 local affiliated organizations and programs. The position reports to an eighteen member Board of Directors and is headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. 

 

Job Duties

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to represent the organization externally across a wide range of stakeholders and constituencies.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of program planning, organizational structure, budgeting, administrative operations, and fundraising.
  • Strong relationship builder with the ability to find common ground, build consensus and strengthen collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and experience in public policy development, public financing, and advocacy.
  • Ability to successfully navigate in a fast-paced, outcomes-driven and non-profit environment. 
  • Ability to lead staff within a relationship-based organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and social media.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the development of effective systems to assess program quality, efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability. Forecast and plan for future needs.

Additional Info

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent experience required
  • A minimum of ten year’s leadership and/or management experience and a record of significant engagement with nonprofit, government, or philanthropic organization serving children and families
  • Extensive experience with child abuse and neglect, early childhood development and prevention programs
  • Experience leading a high-performing team with multiple staff off-site
  • Experience leading a statewide organization with a broad range of services
  • Experience in human service administration, program coordination and systems development
