Now Hiring: Chief Executive Officer
Rockfish Valley Community Center (RVCC) | Afton, VA
Rockfish Valley Community Center, a vibrant nonprofit serving Nelson County since 2000, is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Chief Executive Officer to lead our organization into its next chapter. The CEO will oversee staff and operations, manage finances and fundraising, cultivate community partnerships, and serve as the key liaison to our Board, members, donors, and the public.
This role is ideal for a collaborative nonprofit leader with strong financial, fundraising, and organizational skills who is passionate about community-centered programs, events, and spaces. Job Duties
Chief Executive Officer Overview
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) engages with a variety of individuals, including staff, members, donors, volunteers, as well as business and external funding personnel. The CEO reports directly to the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities
• Plan and manage projects and programs.
• Hire and manage staff. Encourage volunteerism with the RVCC.
• Manage payroll, prepare annual budget, monitor and report on finances throughout the year.
• Obtain external funding and solicit RVCC memberships and donations. Conduct fundraising campaigns.
• Serve as a communication nexus between RVCC staff, BOD, donors, members, vendors and community at large.
• Prepare documents and reports reflecting RVCC activities, progress and needs.
• Acquire and maintain necessary insurance coverage and licenses for operations.
• Network with other non-profits and encourage adoption of best practices.
Skills Required
Required:
• Demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships with stakeholders.
• Demonstrated success with writing grants and obtaining external funding.
• Proven skills for organizing and prioritizing responsibilities and demands.
• Evidence of new program development and ongoing sustainability.
• Demonstrated financial skills.
• Evidence of supervisory and personnel management experience.
• Demonstrated planning skills—operational, budget, and strategic.
• Evidence of project management knowledge and skills.
• Excellent communication skills—written and oral. Candidates may be required to submit writing samples.
• Flexibility and willingness to perform other duties as needed.
Desired:
• Five plus years of non-profit community-related agency administration and leadership.
• Public speaking skills.
• Knowledge of the local community, the area, and leaders.
• Evidence of cooperation with similar community agencies.
Work Schedule
32 hours/week, on site at the Rockfish Valley Community Center.

Founded in 2000, Rockfish Valley Community Center (RVCC) is a membership-based 501(c)(3) charitable organization serving our 900 members, the residents of Nelson County, Virginia and surrounding areas.
Our mission is to provide—on a non-profit basis—a facility for cultural, recreational, social, and educational events. RVCC encourages activities that promote and provide opportunities for people of all ages to experience physical, social, intellectual, and cultural growth and development. To that end, we offer a broad spectrum of programs and activities.
The Center is wholly supported through Annual Fund and Membership Drives, revenue from the Treasure Chest thrift store and Rockfish Gallery & Gifts, short-term room rentals and long-term space leasing, community breakfasts, indoor markets, fundraising campaigns, concerts and other events, as well as grants.
