Position Title: Chief Development Officer
Location: Richmond/Lynchburg, Hybrid

Are you an experienced leader in the nonprofit sector with a passion for making a lasting impact? As Chief Development Officer at HumanKind, you’ll play a pivotal role in sustaining our mission to serve children and families while leading an exceptional team of dedicated professionals.
Reporting directly to the President/CEO and working closely with the Board of Directors, this position shapes and executes comprehensive fundraising strategies that drive our growth and sustainability. From major gifts to capital campaigns, your vision and leadership will ensure alignment with programmatic needs and foster meaningful relationships with donors, corporations, and foundations.

Job Duties
Success In This Role Looks Like:
– Designing and executing successful giving campaigns, capital campaigns, major gift initiatives, and planned giving strategies.
– Cultivating strong partnerships with donors, corporations, foundations, and board members, fostering long-term relationships.
– Providing strategic leadership to the development team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and programmatic needs.
– Overseeing donor database management, gift reporting, and stewardship to ensure accurate and timely records.
– Managing the development department’s budget, annual plans, and performance to meet and exceed fundraising goals.
– Supporting the Board of Directors Development Committee and the Maxwell Legacy Giving Society with impactful strategies and updates.
– Collaborating with the President/CEO and Leadership Team to integrate fundraising initiatives across the organization.
– Representing HumanKind with the highest level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to its mission and values.
Skills Required
What You Bring To The Team:
– Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration; Nonprofit Management, Communications or a related discipline.
– 10 years of proven leadership experience in the nonprofit sector, with a track record of meeting and exceeding ambitious fundraising goals.
– Expertise in designing and managing comprehensive resource development programs, including major gifts, capital campaigns, and planned giving.
– Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage donors, board members, and stakeholders effectively.
– A collaborative approach that inspires and motivates a high-performing team.
– Commitment to upholding HumanKind’s values with integrity, accountability, and empathy.
