Description

The chaplain’s primary responsibility is to provide for the pastoral care needs of residents in areas involving spiritual health, worship, bereavement, end of life issues, crisis intervention and visitation. As may be appropriate and necessary from time to time, the chaplain will also provide such pastoral care services to resident family members. The chaplain will also be available to provide pastoral support to associates which may include direction to other resources such as the EAP, HR, and/or the associate’s personal clergy.

Responsibilities

    • Arranges or provides weekly Vespers.
    • Plans and conducts special worship services, especially surrounding major religious observances.
    • Coordinates, arranges and/or officiates memorial services, celebrations of life, remembrance gatherings at WCBR.
    • Provides pastoral care and visitation to residents in care settings, both on and off campus (e.g., local hospitals).
    • Participates in the Interdisciplinary meetings and assists with transitions to alternative levels of care.
    • Provides input into the preparation of the chaplaincy budget and manages expenses within budget parameters.
    • The position requires frequent daily contact with residents and associates and occasional contact with family members and local area clergy.

Requirements

    • Master of Divinity or equivalent from an accredited seminary.
    • Must be ordained and in good standing with their respective denomination.
    • A minimum of five years in a pastoral setting with an emphasis and some experience in long-term care, acute care, or hospice care. Experience in a CCRC setting is preferred.
