Apply online at: www.charlottesville.org/jobs The Community Attention Foster Families (CAFF) Supervisor position in the Department of Human Services is responsible for the supervision of a dynamic team of Family Services Specialists dedicated to supporting resource and kinship foster families, recruitment and training of foster families, cultivating and maintaining critical community and agency partnerships. The starting amount will be between $58,484.55 and $70,613.93 annually. Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. This is a full-time, exempt, position. Position performs difficult and complex professional work supervising a team performing program/casework services for a target population; does related work as required. Provides direct oversight and management of the investigation process and ongoing program/casework services. Responsible for program advocacy on agency, community and state levels. Activity participates and assumes a leadership role in team based organizational development, focused on outcomes. Reports to the Director of Human Services.

Skills Required

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, human services or other related field;
  • Minimum of 5 years social work knowledge and experience with a preference for at least 2 years of supervisory experience;
  • Possession of a valid driver's license. Within 30 days of employment, possession of a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. (To view our driving eligibility requirements, go to the 'About City Jobs' section of our FAQs on the HR webpage)
Skills: Assessment and intervention with target population; knowledge of individual and family development, community-based responses to families in need, concepts of child abuse and neglect, culturally-responsive services, trauma-informed approaches, educational resources; knowledge and application of related laws and regulations; excellent communication skills (verbal and written); the ability to relate effectively with a diverse population; ability to resolve conflict through consensus and engagement; the ability to give careful attention to paperwork and documentation; and experience in supervision, consultation, training and program coordination; Skills in supporting staff through flexible, appreciative coaching strategies.
