Overview
Our client, Viridiant is a growing, non-profit environmental organization that works to advance sustainable, affordable, and energy efficient construction. This recently created role is a sales-driven Business Development Manager who will identify and cultivate new strategic relationships toward the development of new business opportunities for the organization. The incumbent will sell program and technical-based consulting services to the design, development and construction industry in the mid-Atlantic region. In addition, the role will offer services delivered primarily by the organization’s Multifamily team, with a secondary objective of the position to integrate into the Multifamily team in a leadership role. This role reports to the Executive Director who reports to the Board of Directors.

Job Duties
Summary of Primary Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Work closely with the multifamily team, developers, design, and construction teams to ensure a smooth delivery of services from start to finish.
- Secure new projects by promoting the organization’s products and services addressing or predicting clients’ objectives.
- Perform market analysis on new clients, project identification, tracking and outreach.
- Arrange weekly and monthly business calls and schedule other outreach initiatives current, and prospective clients.
- Successfully acquire and retain new clients by promoting the organization’s products and services addressing or predicting clients’ objectives.
- Scope and contract development, and execution.
- Assist with goal setting for multifamily team metrics, including financial, quality and customer satisfaction.
- Update Salesforce with consistent customer, project, proposal, and contract information.
- Positively represent the organization in all client interactions and project development. including design review facilitation and participation, as needed.
- Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs.
- Work with Localities to develop Green Building policy changes.
- Provide trustworthy feedback and after-sales support.
- Build long-term relationships with new and existing customers.
- Perform additional responsibilities related to the success of the organization.
Skills Required
Key Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Real Estate, Construction, or related experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
- Minimum 2 years proven working experience as a business development manager, sales executive, or relevant role.
- Proven sales and negotiating track record.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) or related area.
- In-depth attention to detail concerning all aspects of the development process and financial impact.
- Real estate or construction related sales and/or development experience and knowledge desired but not required.
- Effective time management, planning and prioritization skills.
- Excellent task management and organizational skills.
- Commercial and/or multifamily field experience in design, construction retro-commissioning, building controls and HVAC and/or lighting design is a plus.
- Effective interpersonal, listening and communication skills (written and oral) and ability to build rapport.
- Strong focus on client satisfaction with a collaborative and positive demeanor.
- Ability to meet shifting demands and communicate changes promptly.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Pre-employment background screening.
- Monday through Friday 8:30AM-5:00PM generally, with some flexible options. Some day and overnight travel required.
