The City of Charlottesville – Department of Neighborhood Development Services is seeking candidates to be considered for Building Combination Inspector who are highly motivated and who strive for success by demonstrating Charlottesville’s Core Values of Leadership, Trust, Creativity, Respect, and Excellence.

The preferred hiring amount is between $23.80 and $29.92 an hour ($49,504.00 to $62,233.60 Annually). Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. This is a full-time, non-exempt, position. This position performs responsible technical work in the enforcement of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code as interpreted by the State Building Code Technical Review Board, and related ordinances. Responsible for the enforcement of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code as a Building Inspector of residential and commercial buildings; Performs related work as required. Reports to the Building Code Official.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the building construction trades and/or building inspections; OR any combination of education and experience which would confer equivalent knowledge and ability shall be deemed to satisfy this requirement.
