Description

 

The Department of Medicine’s Division of General, Geriatric, Palliative and Hospital Medicine at the University of Virginia seeks a physician experienced in geriatric care to serve as Medical Director for Blue Ridge PACE, (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly), located in Charlottesville, VA. A faculty member within the UVa School of Medicine, the PACE Medical Director functions as a primary care provider for participants, oversees the overall delivery of care, maximizes clinical outcomes, and provides oversight of the quality assessment and performance improvement program (QAPI).

 

The Medical Director provides leadership in the design, implementation and monitoring of the medical components of the PACE program, functions as a liaison between Blue Ridge PACE, the University of Virginia Health System, and the area medical community at large. The Medical Director also serves as a consultant and resource to other primary care physicians, on-call physicians, and nurse practitioners who work with Blue Ridge PACE participants. The Medical Director fully participates in the teaching missions of the Division and Blue Ridge PACE, and also interacts with the Blue Ridge PACE Board of Directors and Riverside PACE leadership, colleagues, and staff.

Skills Required

Candidates for this tenure ineligible position must be board-certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. A minimum of three years of leadership or administrative experience, as well as board eligibility or board certification in Geriatrics by appointment start date is preferred. Special consideration may be given to candidates who have PACE experience. Tenure-ineligible positions may qualify to convert to tenure-track at an appropriate time in the future consistent with the School of Medicine promotion and tenure guidelines and candidate qualifications.
