Description
The Associate Director of Corporate Engagement at Kansas State University plays a vital role in advancing the university’s strategic objectives through corporate engagement. Responsibilities include cultivating relationships with corporate partners, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration internally, and promoting innovation externally. They also refine strategies using data and feedback and provide program support. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, they collaborate closely with the Executive Director of Corporate Engagement to ensure cohesive efforts in achieving university goals.
Job Duties
Corporate Engagement Initiative Management:
• Assist with implementation of strategies to establish and strengthen partnerships with local national, and international corporations.
• Support the strategy for the University’s Economic Prosperity Plan.
• Support interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange to address complex challenges and drive innovation.
• Represent K-State at industry conferences, events, and networking opportunities to promote the university’s capabilities and forge new partnerships.
• Manage constituent contacts, understand, and translate needs and make recommendations for alignment with K-State’s research capabilities and resources.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with potential partners to identify opportunities for collaboration.
• Assist with research and provide expertise in developing agreements and contracts that support corporate engagement and economic development objectives.
• Contribute to entrepreneurship within the region by identifying and connecting university resources, expertise and partnerships.
• Assist in identifying and securing funding opportunities, grants and other sources of support to fuel economic development initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to leverage university expertise, research and technology to stimulate innovation, create jobs and attract investment.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including faculty, researchers, and administrators, to identify opportunities for collaboration and joint initiatives.
Program Support:
• Manage operations for the corporate engagement.
• Maintain extensive knowledge of university, state and federal policies and regulations to appropriately support initiatives and provide recommendations to leadership.
• Contribute to the overall corporate engagement strategy and recommend tactics to achieve goals.
• Assist with the implementation of a customer relationship management (CRM) platform to log and monitor engagement activities, partnership proposals secured funds, and outcomes.
• Prepare regular reports to demonstrate the value and effectiveness of initiatives.
• Utilize data and feedback to measure performance and continuously improve strategies and outcomes.
Communication:
• Support efforts to coordinate and streamline communication and activities across departments and disciplines.
• Prepare regular reports and presentations for the executive director, university leadership, stakeholders and funding agencies to demonstrate the value and effectiveness of initiatives.
• Professionally represent the corporate engagement and economic development function to the public as requested.
• Develop messaging, materials and outreach plans in support of the unit’s strategic communications plan.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Vice President for Executive Affairs, University Engagement, and Partnerships/Chief of Staff.
Skills Required
Required Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience.
Preferred Education & Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in job-related field.
Experience:
• Four years of successful corporate engagement, economic development, business development and/or customer management facing experience.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, preferably in a higher education or research environment.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to travel, including some nights and weekends.
• Demonstrated success at managing complex issues and relationships.
• Exhibits a strong commitment to the land grant mission of Kansas State University.
Work Schedule
Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm
