Overview

The Richmond Academy of Medicine Services Corporation (RAMSC) is conducting a search for a full time, non-supervisory Assistant Society Manager to provide exceptional professional and administrative services to medical specialty societies. The manager will also be responsible for other RAMSC projects, as needed. Reports to the Executive Director. RAMSC provides a variety of management services tailored to the specific needs of each organization. The service and professional expertise provided by RAMSC relieves societies and their leaders of the administrative details necessary for an efficient operation, at a more economical cost. Summary of Job Responsibilities and Requirements

  • This roll-up-your-sleeves position is responsible for maintaining a complete and current membership database and for providing recruitment and retention services.
  • Responsible for communicating with the Board of Directors and planning Board meetings, which includes scheduling the meetings, planning the agenda, attending the meetings, and writing minutes.
  • Plans annual conferences, which includes coordinating with the hotel, speakers, and vendors.
  • Maintains the expenditures of each society's meeting within the allocated budget.
  • Coordinates the communication with the membership through a newsletter or a website.
  • Performs additional responsibilities related to the success of the membership-based organization.

Key Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strongly prefer a Bachelor’s degree in communications or related area.
  • Minimum of 3 years professional services or business support role working with a variety of clients and communication styles.
  • Knowledge of continuing Medical Education applications and Maintenance of Certification procedures highly desirable.
  • Effective in time management, organization, and multi-tasking.
  • Skilled with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, Outlook, data entry, and database management.
  • Skilled at video conferencing, social media, and other standard office equipment, including copier, fax, telephone, and postage machine.
  • Effective and proactive team communication, facilitation, problem solving, and decision-making.
  • Written and oral communication proficiency.
  • Experience in a Membership based organization; working with a wide range of personalities highly desirable.
  • Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday with some schedule flexibility.
  • Overnight travel about once a quarter for two to three days (typically weekends) at a time to facilitate events. Occasional evening conference calls.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment background screening.
