Description

The After School Program Leader is responsible for conducting an after school preschool program for youth ages 3-5.  Primary responsibilities include ensuring the safety, health, well being, and growth in developmental areas (cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language).  The program will operate M-F from 3:00-5:30pm with extended hours during school holidays.  This is a new program that will begin in January 2020.

Job Duties

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Plan and prepare activities that meet the social-emotional, physical, and educational needs of the preschool children. This involves the following:
  2. Develop weekly program plans and associated activities.
  3. Implement consistent behavior guidance strategies.
  4. Cultivate an environment that recognizes and values diverse populations.
  5. Execute various activities with the children as per daily schedule.
  6. Support the learning and development of young children utilizing developmentally and age appropriate practices.
  7. Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for the children.
  8. Arrange and maintain an after school environment conducive to exploration and experiential learning with materials labeled and easily accessible to children.
  9. Ensure all indoor and outdoor equipment and materials are safe and in good condition, reporting any broken or unsafe equipment to the Program Director.
  10. Adhere to all state licensing regulations and program policies.
  11. Foster positive relationships with staff, children, and families.
  12. Maintain a positive working relationship with other center, classroom, and MACAA staff.
  13. Create an atmosphere that is welcoming to children and families.
  14. Maintaining current CPR, First Aid, and MAT certifications.

Skills Required

Education

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree in a relevant field, CDA, or currently enrolled in an Early Childhood Education program preferred.

Experience

  • Must have at least one year of experience in Early Childhood Education or Childcare.

General

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must submit to a background check.
  • Must pass all health screenings.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Proficient in oral and written communication.

Work Schedule

M-F, 2:45-5:45pm; additional days and times to accommodate school holidays.
