Job Purpose
The Advancement Coordinator is an important member of the VIA Advancement team; responsible for planning and executing advancement events; soliciting and stewarding gifts under $500; cultivating new donors; and planning and executing online giving days, under the direction of the Regional Director of Advancement. They will also assist with other advancement duties, as needed, like attending community engagement and networking events.
Job Duties
Duties and Responsibilities
Event Coordination
- Develop and manage specific event timelines, planning tools, budgets, volunteer activities and responsibilities, vendors and contracts, and post-event evaluations for events in Charlottesville, Lexington, Lynchburg, and Roanoke. Events include golf tournaments, 5K runs, donor stewardship events, grand openings/ribbon cuttings, and smaller occasional events.
- Work within designated platforms to manage registrations, auctions, crowdfunding/day of giving initiatives,
- Work with Communications colleagues to ensure timely and consistent publicity for events and donor/corporate partner recognition and stewardship.
Annual Giving
- Develop an annual marketing strategy in collaboration with the Communications team for annual fund engagement and solicitations
- Create and implement highly targeted direct mail or digital appeals, targeting donors who typically give $500 or less, annually
- Coordinate stewardship efforts for these donors
- Plan and execute online giving days, using them as an opportunity to secure funds and new donors for the organization
Other
- Attend community events and networking opportunities as requested by Regional Advancement Directors
- Build and foster collaborative relationships with stakeholders in the communities we serve
- Champion special projects as directed by Regional Advancement Directors
Position Type
This is a full-time position. This position may involve working flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed. Travel to all four VIA locations (Charlottesville, Lexington, Lynchburg, and Roanoke) is required.
Skills Required
Qualifications
- Experience working with event management software, CRMs, and similar platforms
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3 plus years of experience in event implementation
- Experience in fundraising is a plus
Physical Requirements
The ability to move independently throughout a wide range of environments, some of which may not be wheelchair or otherwise handicapped accessible, is required. Independent transportation to locations that may not be served by public transportation may be necessary.
