POSITION SUMMARY:
The referee is responsible to referee, encourage sportsmanship and encourage players to build their confidence. To ensure the purpose, mission, and values of the YMCA Sports Department are being met.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Arrive 15-30 minutes prior to your first game.
- Assist in helping set-up the gym for volleyball usage.
- Call games fairly.
- Listens to concerns, resolves programs and corrects inappropriate behavior. Documents situations and relays to Sports Director.
- Enforces sportsmanship.
- Performs the role of an official to monitor play, oversee the safety of players and ensure the particular sport’s and YMCA rules are followed.
- Exhibit positive public relations. Wear YMCA staff t-shirt and nametag to all games.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have at least 1- 2 years of experience working in a sports setting.
- Must possess oral, auditory and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with adults.
- Must be able to take initiative, have strong time management skills and work independently in performing the duties of a Referee.
- Must have flexible schedule to work evenings and weekends.
