JOB TYPE: Non-Exempt, Part-Time (10-12 hrs/week, hourly)
LOCATION: Remote
SUPERVISOR: Executive Director

Founded in 1985, Early Music America is the advocacy, research, and leadership development organization that advances the fields of early music and historical performance. We support and serve early-music ensembles, musicians, amateurs, teachers, supporters, and more, with tools, training, peer-networking, and access, so that musicians and ensembles are better able to contribute to their communities. Early Music America has more than 1,500 members; a 4-member staff; and an annual budget of $450,000.

POSITION

The Administrative Assistant will help maintain Early Music America’s effectiveness, growth, and national standing in serving its members and others in the field by providing support to senior staff in the following areas:

-Compiling and proof-reading EMA’s weekly E-Notes
-Updating the EMA website
-Scheduling staff, board, and committee meetings
-Sending donor acknowledgements
-Updating the member and donor database
-Attending weekly online all-staff meetings
-Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Working remotely, the successful candidate must complete the majority of the work during regular business hours, but has the flexibility to work nights and weekends to accommodate other part-time responsibilities. If the successful candidate lives in or around Charlottesville, Virginia, they will be expected to meet with the executive director in person on a weekly basis.

QUALIFICATIONS

-2+ years of administrative experience;
-Superior writing skills and excellent communication skills;
-Experience with CiviCRM or another industry-standard database;
-Experience with WordPress or similar website creation platforms;
-Attention to detail, independent work ethic, and strong time management and organizational skills;
-An entrepreneurial spirit and a creative and positive approach to problem solving;
-Commitment to the mission, organizational values, and goals of Early Music America;
-Knowledge and appreciation of music and the arts.
-Residents of Charlottesville, Virginia and surrounding areas strongly preferred.

COMPENSATION

This is a part-time position for 10 to 12 hours a week ($22/hour) for an initial period of six months. An allowance will be made for computer, phone, and internet use. No other benefits are currently available.
