Description
JABA is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Activities Coordinator to help plan and implement meaningful activities for adults with disabilities, ages 18 and older. The Activities Coordinator plans and implements a program of therapeutic activities for clients of the Adult Care Center.
Work schedule is 30 hours per week: Monday through Friday 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Essential Functions
Plan a structured adult activity program and provide a monthly schedule of activities, following guidelines.
Plan and implement meaningful field trips, including scheduling proper transportation and willingness to drive JABA vehicle
Facilitate site council meetings
Work with other entities and organizations within the facility, as well as local schools to establish and maintain intergenerational partnership.
Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate appropriate skills in delegation, planning of, preparation for, and carrying out of activities;
Required Education and Experience
Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, the Arts, Occupational Therapy or other relevant field. Relevant experience may be substituted.
Current certifications in CPR and First Aid or completed within the first year.
40 hours of direct care training or willingness to complete within the first year.
1 to 3 years of relevant work experience is required
Experience working with and/or knowledge of adults with disabilities and their special needs is preferred.
Computer skills required
Valid driver’s license with clear driving history
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; bend; stoop; walk; use hands to finger, reach with hands and arms.
This would require the ability to lift carry items and the ability to assist and support clients, must be able to regularly lift or move 50 pounds in and around JABA facilities.
