Financial knowledge and understanding of basic financial and accounting principles allow nonprofits to identify financial options, have financial-informed conversations, determine financially viable directions, and establish sustainable paths forward. Financial acumen and understanding support nonprofits in making informed decisions. In partnership with the Obici Healthcare Foundation, CNE is pleased to offer a program supporting nonprofits in making financially sound judgments resulting in informed business decisions.

CNE will connect up to 8 organizations with a financial professional who will work with participating nonprofits to:

  • Develop greater clarity and understanding of program revenue and expenses
  • Create financial policies and procedures that align with the organization’s bylaws
  • Create standardized financial reports
  • Train board members on the chart of accounts, financial policies and procedures, and how to read and understand the financial reports generated by the organization

Eligibility and expectations to participate:

  • An annual operating budget below $1M
  • Approximately a 10-25 hour time commitment over the course of the program
  • A team of 2 individuals with capacity to engage in the program and maintain financial processes, procedures, and reporting after completion of the program

The per-organization value of these services is $4,000, but thanks to the generous support of the Obici Healthcare Foundation, fees are subsidized and it is free to participate.
