VOTING RIGHTS TEXAS DEPUTY

 

Job Description

The central role of the Deputy Director is the development and execution of the March On for Voting Rights in Houston on August 28th. The Deputy is responsible for ensuring clear communication and inclusion of activists, organizations, volunteers, candidates, and elected officials in and around the Houston area. They will handle on the ground event planning and logistics. They will report to the State Director and advise them on Houston area politics and budgetary decisions related to the march.

 

Responsibilities and duties

  1. Work with the leadership team to ensure that the strategic direction and programming of the March On is aligned with our values, connected to our mission, and is responsive to the shifting political conditions.
  2. Responsible for supporting the State Directors operational plans and programming in service of the March On’s strategy
  3. Represent March On as a spokesperson at public events, partner meetings and the media.
  4. Work closely with Leadership Team members and relevant staff to develop a partnerships and recruitment strategy
  5. Recruit, establish and maintain relationships with organizations towards enhancing our collective’s mission Insure communication, transparency and accountability throughout the March On eco-systemIdentify opportunities for growing the breadth and influence of March On.
  6. Prepares accurate and timely analyses that capture and communicate the impact of the March On.
  7. Report weekly to the Texas State Director.

Compensation & details

This is a two-month, full-time, Houston-based position beginning in June 2021, ending November 2021 with potential to extend through the 2022 election. Salary/compensation will be commensurate with experience. Monthly salary will be between $3000 and $4000 a month.
