Requirements:
New River Abortion Access Fund is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to creating and protecting abortion access in Virginia, especially in Southwest, Virginia and Appalachia.
Our organization is currently seeking a volunteer to serve as a treasurer to serve on our board of directors. Interested candidates should:
- Have knowledge or interest in learning about abortion funds and/or reproductive justice
- Personal commitment to ensuring abortion access in Virginia
- Understanding of nonprofit accounting for nonprofit organizations
Responsibilities
- Serves as financial officer of the organization and as chair of the finance committee
- Oversees the financial aspects of board decisions.
- Works with the staff and the board to develop a long-term financial strategy.
- Works with the board and staff in assessing the annual financial condition of the organization.
- Assists the board chair and executive director in preparing the annual budget and presenting the budget to the board for approval
- Assists the board chair and executive director in maintaining relevant organizational insurance policies
- Works with the executive director, board and financial professional to ensure that appropriate financial reports are made available to the board on a timely basis
- Oversees annual financial review and revise, as needed, budget preparation materials.
Annual Time Commitment (including committee meetings, special events, work outside the board, etc.)
- Board Terms are for 3 years with the option to renew.
- Meetings are monthly for 2 hours and are held virtually.
- Board members are asked to serve on at least one committee.
- There is one mandatory in person board retreat, and multiple in person events that our board members can attend if possible.
