Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville/Albemarle is seeking volunteers to serve as board members. Ideally, we would like board members who have one or more of the following skills or experiences:

– Former or Current Meals on Wheels Volunteer

Annual Time Commitment (including committee meetings, special events, work outside the board, etc.)

Board Financial Commitment
While there is no minimum financial contribution, we do ask that all board members make a financial contribution to Meals on Wheels that is meaningful to them.

REQUIREMENTS FOR BOARD PARTICIPATION
Attendance:
Board members are expected to attend monthly meetings regularly. Failure to attend at least 75% of meetings may result in removal from the Board. Directors must notify the President and Executive Director if they cannot attend a meeting.
Participation:
Each board member shall serve on at least one committee or task force during his/her term. In addition, each director is expected to assist in organizing and attending special projects and events.
Financial Commitment:
Each board member should stay informed about Meals on Wheels’s income and expenses. He/she should also attend fundraising events, assist in securing sponsors for these events, and financially support the organization throughout the year to the best of his/her ability.
General Requirements:
Each board member should act as an ambassador to the community for Meals on Wheels. He/she should also assist in recruiting new volunteers and candidates for the board of directors. Finally, each board member should be knowledgeable about all policies and procedures as outlined in the Plan of Operations.
