Description
Wintergreen Adaptive Sports is seeking a snow sports supervisor for its seasonal adaptive snow sports instruction program. Candidates must be able to work full-time, 40 hours/week from December through mid-March, with some part-time pre-season duties in late October and November. PSIA or AASI certification required plus a minimum of five years experience with adaptive snow sports; PSIA or AASI Level 2 Adaptive preferred, as is additional experience (beyond snow sports) working with persons with disabilities in an instructional or therapeutic setting. Wintergreen Adaptive Sports provides instruction to persons with disabilities of all ages and with all types of disabilities—physical, cognitive, and sensory. Job Duties
Key duties include:
Leadership:
- Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with Wintergreen Resort, assuring WAS complies with all resort operating policies.
- Develop and maintain a strong relationship with regional leaders in adaptive or Special Olympic sports.
- Lead, coach and develop staff and volunteers.
- As an adaptive sports professional, set an example to staff and volunteers by diligently supporting and implementing established WAS policies; support off season fund raising activities as opportunities permit.
- Support the WAS ED with overall organizational efforts
Management:
- Ensure staff and volunteer preparation for each winter season.
- Ensure dryland and on-snow training is scheduled and supported by all staff functions.
- Ensure winter season schedule is established and updated as necessary; weekly schedules must support anticipated student participation.
- Supervise and manage winter staff; Scheduler, Instructor Development Coordinator, Equipment Repair Assistant and all shift supervisors.
- Working with the Instructor Development Coordinator, ensure that staff and applicable volunteers attend required training sessions.
- Working with the Instructor Development Coordinator, ensure that sufficient training and clinics are conducted to further enhance volunteer skills and PSIA certifications.
- Ensure that all equipment is adequately prepared for use.
- Ensure that winter season special events (wounded warriors weekend, Mardi Gras, other fund raising events) are supported to the maximum extent possible.
- Submit funding/budget requests to the WAS ED, as necessary.
- Implement effective systems and processes to track progress and regularly evaluate program components so as to measure effectiveness.
- Evaluate staff so as to measure effectiveness and provide personal feedback.
- Submit to WAS ED a season-end after-action report highlighting needed areas of improvement, policy updates and funding requirements.
Communications:
- Regularly and effectively communicate with staff and volunteers.
- Promote the WAS brand throughout the winter season.
- Recommend opportunities for improvement in all aspects of communications (website, Facebook, etc.).
- Keep the WAS ED informed of program activity throughout the season.
Skills Required
Advanced skiing and/or snowboarding ability
PSIA or AASI certification

Work Schedule
8-5, Wednesday-Sunday, from mid-December through mid-March, plus part-time pre-season duties on a fairly flexible timetable.
