The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), an independent, nonprofit scientific and educational organization dedicated to reducing the losses deaths, injuries and property damage -from crashes on the nation’s roads seeks a Legal Analyst at our offices located in Ruckersville, Virginia, 12 miles north of the city of Charlottesville. Compensation consists of a competitive salary and a 403(b) retirement plan with a non-elective annual contribution equal to l 0% of your salary. Other benefits include health and dental insurance, life insurance, medical and dependent care flex spending accounts, reasonable working hours, 3 weeks of paid vacation in your first year, and your own private office. The Legal Analyst position requires the following:
Primary Duties
- In collaboration with the Assistant General Counsel, drafts and negotiates contracts, such as license agreements and research agreements.
- Conducts legal research, particularly on highway safety and employment law issues.
- Maintains legal files.
- Prepares weekly summaries of government affairs news. Prepares daily alerts as needed.
- Assists in monitoring state legislation and regulatory activities, identifying actions of interest
to IIHS
- Analyzes state legislation and federal regulatory activity as requested.
- Assists General Counsel and other legal staff as needed.

- Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Skills
- Paralegal certificate.
- Proficiency in LexisNexis software.
