Upper School Drama Teacher

Tandem Friends School is looking for someone to produce and direct one musical and one straight play each academic year, produce a one-act play festival each academic year, and teach one drama class each semester.

The job responsibilities include:

– selecting appropriate plays and musicals

– recruiting and supervising design team (and directors for one-acts)

– holding auditions and casting productions

– rehearsal scheduling, including communication with faculty, students and parents

– scheduling and attending set builds

– recruiting and training student backstage/running crew/light and sound board support

– publicity

– coordinating volunteer box office and concession support

– managing budgets for each production.

Additional responsibilities include:

– Planning and teaching a drama class each semester (content TBD)

– Providing grades and comments for each student.

As a member of the Arts Program, the Director will:

– Coordinate and maintain use of the Community Hall with middle school theatre program and music department

– Coordinate and maintain use of set and lights with middle school theater program

– Assist with hanging lights and moving risers

– Participate in keeping prop, backstage and costume areas organized.
