Position Summary:
The Human Resources Coordinator supports Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia by assisting in the administration of core HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, compliance, and employee engagement. This role ensures smooth and consistent HR operations across all Club locations, in alignment with the organization’s mission and values. The HR Coordinator works under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources and serves as a key resource for employees.
What You’ll Do:
Recruitment & Hiring
• Maintain the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), including posting and updating job requisitions, tracking candidate status, and ensuring documentation and retention of recruitment records.
• Support hiring managers across Club sites with candidate sourcing, screening and interviewing, scheduling, communication, and extending offers.
Onboarding & Orientation
• Administer onboarding for new hires, including background checks, reference checks, new hire paperwork, and orientation.
• Administer onboarding for program volunteers, ensuring completion of applications, safety training, reference checks, and background screening.
• Maintain and utilize the approved Member Tracking System to manage volunteer records.
• Collaborate with the Resource Development team to support volunteer engagement and stewardship.
Payroll & HRIS Administration
• Prepare and process biweekly payroll under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources.
• Ensure accurate timekeeping and payroll data entry.
• Assist with payroll-related reporting and reconciliation.
• Maintain and update the Human Resource Information System (HRIS), including processing employee changes, auditing data, and supporting HRIS end-users.
Compliance & Records
• Compile and maintain audit-ready employee files in accordance with legal and organizational standards.
• Maintain the background check database and ensure timely and accurate entry and communication with staff, volunteers, and board members.
Performance & Development
• Support performance management records and tracking.
• Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources and program staff to support employee development initiatives and training, including coordinating logistics, tracking attendance, and facilitating HR training as needed.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to build knowledge in human resources, compliance, and nonprofit operations.
General HR Support
• Respond to HR-related requests and inquiries from employees, escalating to the Director of Human Resources when needed.
• Assist the Director of Human Resources with data collection, reporting, and special projects.
• Create and support opportunities, systems, and expectations that promote a human-centered organizational culture.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• One year of Human Resources experience preferred, preferably in a non-profit or youth-serving organization
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
• Experience with Paycor, Paylocity, or comparable HRIS preferred
• Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Education and Certifications:
• Must be 18 years or older
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in Human Resources or Business Administration
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, in person, with plenty of flexibility to accommodate life

• Ability to engage in substantial repetitive motion from typing or writing, etc.
• Ability to be effective in an environment with varying levels of noise throughout the day
• Ability to travel locally between Club locations as needed
