Position Summary:
The Front Porch seeks a dynamic, detail-oriented, and mission-driven Director of Advancement to lead and grow our development and fundraising efforts. This senior-level position is responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive advancement strategy that includes individual giving, grants, corporate sponsorships, special events, and donor engagement. The Director of Advancement will report to the Executive Director and work closely with staff, Board members, and volunteers to ensure The Front Porch’s continued growth and sustainability.

Job Duties
Key Responsibilities:
Development & Fundraising Strategy
– Develop and oversee a comprehensive Development Plan in collaboration with the Executive Director and Advancement Committee.
– Establish and manage short- and long-term fundraising goals and report progress to the Board of Directors.
– Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major donors and prospective supporters across Virginia.
– Develop strategies for securing and maintaining corporate sponsorships and partnerships.
– Build and strengthen relationships with government agencies, foundations, and local/county leaders.
– Design and develop annual reports, donor updates, and key communications throughout the year.
Grants & Compliance
– Write, track, and manage all aspects of grant applications and reporting.
– Maintain a grants database and calendar to ensure timely submissions and reporting.
– Ensure all fundraising compliance requirements are met.
Donor & Data Management
– Manage and maintain The Front Porch’s donor database (Bloomerang/Kindful).
– Oversee donor communications including solicitations, acknowledgements, and online/mail campaigns.
– Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of donor engagement and giving history.
Events & Community Engagement
– Serve as staff lead for the Gala Committee, managing The Front Porch’s signature fundraising event.
– Represent The Front Porch at community events and with civic and cultural leaders to build visibility and philanthropic support.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills Required
Qualifications:
– Outstanding interpersonal competencies.
– Passion for music, arts education, and community engagement.
– 5+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or advancement.
– Proven track record of securing and stewarding major gifts, grants, and sponsorships.
– Exceptional writing, communication, and organizational skills.
– Experience managing a donor database (Kindful or similar CRM systems).
– Knowledge of nonprofit compliance and fundraising regulations.
– Self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
– Experience managing fundraising events and/or committees is a plus.
– Experience stewarding a large capital campaign is strongly preferred.
Work Schedule
Full-time, in-person, exempt. Flexible work hours with some evenings/weekends required for events.
