Description
The Director of Foundation, Corporate & Government Relations is primarily responsible for managing the organizational foundation, corporate, and government funding strategy and external communications including, but not limited to, press releases and annual reports. Responsibilities include research, writing, production, delivery, stewardship, evaluation and measurement functions (in consultation with the operations department), targeting foundations, corporations, and government agencies, through a lens of human-centeredness. This role will strategically expand the organization’s foundation, corporate, and government giving with a goal of significantly increasing support for programs and priorities. The Director of Foundation, Corporate & Government Relations reports to the Chief Development Officer.

Job Duties
– Develop and implement the foundation, corporate, and government strategies for the organization, prioritizing one-time and recurring opportunities of $10,000 – $250,000+.
– Manage a portfolio of contacts related to foundation, corporate and government support, including regular in-person visits, phone calls, and emails.
– Develop and oversee board sub-committee for government relations; work with board resource development committee to create and implement corporate strategies.
– Develop and oversee board sub-committee for stewardship; engage RD Team and board resource development committee to coordinate and track stewardship activities.
– Identify key success metrics for foundation, corporate, and government fundraising, and set goals according to these metrics, for the organization and individual funders.
– Inform and actively participates in the budgeting process, particularly with regard to grant revenue as it relates to program budgets.
– Research new donor prospects and identify viable foundation, corporation, government, and other institutional prospects to fund the organization’s top priorities.
– Prioritizing program needs, lead the grant process through the development of proposals for new and recurring grants and contracts, donor cultivation and stewardship, grant research, and other fundraising related activities.
– Maintain strong relationships with funders by coordinating follow up visits and regular communications, including press releases and annual reports that highlight foundation, corporate, and government support and program accomplishments.
– Develop relationship with Boys & Girls Clubs of America government relations department.
– Coordinate media interest in the Club and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate responses to media requests.
– Develop messaging and create presentations to promote the organization with internal and external constituencies.
– Prepare letters of inquiry, proposals, and grant applications, ensuring that all data is completed accurately and on time.
– Research audience, needed facts, local data, background information and other required data for proposal development; edit and proofread texts of grant proposals and application for adherence to RFP requirements.
– Monitor completed grant proposals and administration process to ensure timely application submission.
– In collaboration with the operations department, assist in tracking and reporting for grant awards, submittals, and projects that maximize the impact of a potential grant or contract and ensure fulfillment of stated metrics and outcomes.
– Support larger development initiatives, fundraising appeals, website and social media content, and donor acknowledgement and cultivation communication.
– Ensure that BGCCVA messaging reflects the Club’s mission and values.
– Attend community meetings to learn of new opportunities, advance the field, and engage with funders.
– Manage all third-party corporate event and support requests.
– Attend and support special events.
– Create and support opportunities, systems, and expectations that promote a human-centered organizational culture.
– Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills Required
– Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills required to craft funding proposals in a clear and compelling manner
– Demonstrated ability to engage and inspire constituents across the organization including donors, staff, Club members, foundation, government, and corporate contacts, community partners, and others
– Ability to develop strategic communications content
– Ability to work well independently within a highly collaborative team environment
– Strong initiative and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects
– Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
– Commitment to the mission of the Boys & Girls Club
– Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Additional Info
– Bachelor’s degree required
– Three years of grant proposal writing and research experience preferred
