Description

The Southern Environmental Law Center has a new position for a Senior Project Manager – Enterprise Systems. In collaboration with the IT team and other stakeholders throughout the organization, the new Senior Project Manager will work regionally to oversee and manage a broad range of technology projects. From conception and planning, through execution and post-implementation support, the Senior Project Manager will have the opportunity to advance SELC’s multi-faceted, multidisciplinary work through continuous optimizing our core enterprise systems. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership and communication skills to ensure the successful delivery of IT solutions that support SELC’s mission. This position will report to SELC’s Deputy Director, while working in concert with our IT Operations Director. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly successful, nationally recognized organization that is effectively addressing some of the most pressing and challenging environmental issues throughout the South and the nation.

This is a full-time, exempt position with a flexible start date. SELC has a hybrid work model that offers employees the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week. The position may be based in any of the following SELC offices: Atlanta, GA; Chapel Hill, NC; Charlottesville, VA, Nashville, TN, and Washington, DC. Relocation reimbursement is available for those moving to join us. Employment is contingent on successful completion of a criminal background check.

Job Duties

Primary Responsibilities:

The Senior IT Project Manager will oversee the full life-cycle planning, implementation, and ongoing support for technology projects across the organization. In this capacity, the Senior Project Manager will focus in three core areas:

Strategic Planning and Vision:

– Establish a rigorous and transparent approach to planning and managing all phases of technology projects from conception to execution and post-implementation support.
– Provide project management leadership, guidance, and support to the IT department as it develops and executes a comprehensive IT strategy and roadmap aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.
– Collaborate with organization leadership, our IT team, and diverse stakeholders at all levels to support successful project development, implementation, support, and ongoing maintenance.

Project Management:

– Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, supplier sourcing, project dependencies, budgets, and timelines.
– Inclusive of performing requirements gathering, business analysis, and process diagramming.
– Maintain a project portfolio and key project-specific processes and documents, such as goals and project objectives, success metrics, stakeholders and roles, milestones, deliverables, project plans, communication plans, risk management plans, and quality control schedules.
– Manage project resources, including personnel, budget, and technology, to optimize project outcomes.
– Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
– Use project management tools to streamline project planning, execution, reporting, and tracking.
– Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, ensuring clear and consistent communication regarding project status, risks, and issues. Develop project briefs, Gannt charts, Kanban boards and other deliverables that support project planning, execution/implementation, and transparency.
– Ensure that all project deliverables meet required quality standards and comply with organizational policies and procedures.
– Document and implement best practices and lessons learned from previous projects to improve future project performance.
– Directly manage projects as needed, including requirements gathering, business analysis, and process diagramming.

Product Management:

– Work closely with department leaders and key stakeholders to ensure that all software products are optimized to provide significant business value.
– Develop deep expertise in the administration and management of key enterprise software systems.
– Establish close relationships with key vendors and stay abreast of developments and upgrades as they pertain to SELC’s business needs.
– Provide necessary support and training to users on key enterprise systems.
– Ensure that software solutions are maintained and updated to optimize performance and meet the needs of the organization.

Required Qualifications:

– 5+ years of experience in project management, including experience as a senior IT project manager or similar role.
– Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, information technology systems, marketing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
– Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, diagramming software such as Lucid Chart, and cloud-based applications.
– Experience with documenting complex business processes.
– Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
– A genuine interest in and commitment to helping SELC create and foster a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace. You engage in ongoing learning and are eager to contribute to our organizational efforts in this area.

Skills Required

Desired Qualifications:

– Project Management Professional certification preferred.
– Experience establishing and refining a project management framework and methodology and change management best practices.

Strong working knowledge of key enterprise-level applications including:
– SharePoint, Teams, and related M365 applications
– NetDocuments
– Logikcull
– Orion
– Monday.com
– Matter and Case Management Systems

– Agile project management and change management best practices.
– Experience with legal practice systems and applications at the intersection of technology and legal practice.
– Experience with electronic discovery and e-discovery software and tools, with proficiency identifying, collecting, preserving, managing, producing, and processing and ingesting electronically stored information.

SELC offers salaries competitive with other leading environmental nonprofits nationally and provides an excellent benefits package. SELC is a PSLF (Public Service Loan Forgiveness) eligible employer.

SELC will also provide relocation reimbursement for those relocating for an SELC position, up to a specific dollar amount and contingent on the move being at least 50 miles from the current primary address.
