Love INC of Charlottesville / Albemarle’s mission is to transform individual lives and communities “In the Name of Christ” by mobilizing people in churches to help our neighbors- in-need. It is Love INC’s belief that the local church is God’s answer to community brokenness and a part of His plan of redemption and restoration.
While adhering to the basic tenets of the Apostle’s Creed, the Executive Director possesses a servant’s heart and provides direction, leadership, and operational oversight toward the achievement of the vision, mission and model of Love In the Name of Christ. More specifically, the Executive Director manages personnel, develops resources, and implements programming to meet the organization’s strategic goals and objectives according to best practices promoted by the Love INC National Organization. The position reports to a local Board of Directors and currently oversees three paid staff and a host of dedicated volunteers from across the local church community.
Job Duties
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
LEADING BY EXAMPLE
• Provide spiritual leadership to staff and volunteers while exhibiting maturity, integrity, and a commitment to a personal transformation model of supporting neighbors-in-need
• Steward the local affiliate’s relationship with Love INC National
COORDINATING WITH THE LOCAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS
• Support the operation and administration of the Board of Directors
• Participate with the Board of Directors in developing and implementing an annual fundraising plan and operating budget
ENGAGING THE COMMUNITY
• Serve as the chief spokesperson for the organization and community organizations
• Cultivate and nurture relationships with area pastors, churches, church staff and volunteers to help them understand their ownership of and involvement in the Love INC ministry
• Oversee development and implementation of communications and marketing strategies to promote the organization’s vision, mission, and ministry accomplishments to the community
OVERSEEING OPERATIONS
• Oversee the development, delivery, and quality of Clearinghouse operations
• Monitor and evaluate impact of ministry initiatives (GAP Ministries)
• Effectively manage the human resources function for staff and volunteers by ensuring sound administrative practices, personnel policies, and procedures
• Oversee all recordkeeping and financial operations (in accord with current accounting/financial reporting standards), including appropriate risk management practices
• Maintain and manage the upkeep of office/physical facilities
Skills Required
RECOMMENDED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience in:
o Management (non-profit a plus)
o Social work
o Christian Ministry
o Community development or other relevant fields.
• Leadership/supervisory experience (three to five years minimum).
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong team development skills with ability to delegate
• Ability to inspire, develop and retain staff
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft 365 (MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
• Strong understanding of and commitment to the Love INC Mission and ecumenical spirit
• Ability to identify, research, and develop remedial programs to address community-wide needs (Gap Ministries)
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday – 9 am to 5 pm with occasional weekend event participation.
