Position Summary:  The Marketing & Engagement Coordinator is an individual who uses creativity and a story-telling prowess to promote the organization and engage across a variety of externally facing mediums.  This individual works diligently to develop and produce digital, social, and print communication strategies from concept through implementation.  This role assists in the creation and execution of engagement marketing processes and supports the organization’s fundraising activities and brand awareness/advertising through communication tasks and objectives.  Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this position uses cross-departmental communication tactics to establish consistent messaging.

Key success criteria for this role include:

  • Support the Executive Director in developing and delivering effective communications for building awareness, fundraising, and donor engagement campaigns with the goal of increasing revenue and philanthropic support, growing programming participation including email communications, newsletters, mailers, announcements, website, an annual review, and other media.
  • Increase the organization’s social media network presence by creatively developing and executing strategies that drive brand awareness and engage leads from donors to participants.

Job Duties

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creates content utilizing photography, videography, and respective editing software for digital and print promotion materials;
  • Adheres to the organization’s branding guidelines and ensures all materials present a clear, unified, and positive image;
  • Develops and coordinates digital communication strategies that promote and engage the public utilizing the organization’s tools via website, email, and multiple social media platforms; 
  • Designs the format of the organization’s annual review and assists with content and data creation;
  • Ensures marketing effectiveness through evaluation of quantitative and qualitative analytics, providing recommendations for improvement;
  • Develops branded promotional material for direct mail solicitation and banner ad placement with key supporters and partners in the community;
  • Identifies community engagement opportunities and leads the organization through experiential or tabletop community-based promotional events; 
  • Develops and implements effective event communication strategies and assists with event-related activities; 
  • Assists with communication, cultivation, and stewardship of corporate and individual prospects, sponsors, and donors by developing targeted case for support materials;
  • Assists in the preparation of press releases for news publications and stories of impact;
  • Assists in identifying, preparing submissions, and adhering to follow-up requirements for grant opportunities;
  • Serves as an ambassador for the organization by pursuing additional personal and professional contacts in the community and increasing awareness of the First Tee’s mission and vision;
  • Prepare materials for, attend meetings, and assist with other duties as assigned.

Skills Required

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • BA/BS in public relations, communications, marketing, advertising, or related field;
  • 1+ year(s) of hands-on experience developing digital content and messaging, donor-centric campaigns, business promotions, and event planning;
  • Commitment and passion for the mission and purpose of First Tee — Virginia Blue Ridge; 
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and digital communication skills with proven content writing and social media experience;
  • Charismatic, personable, and motivational working in social settings, individually and with a team, consistently treating others equitably and with respect; 
  • A creative thinker with proven success in a fast-paced environment utilizing critical thinking and analytical skills to make decisions;  
  • A lead-by-example doer with outstanding attention to detail, deadlines, and budgetary guidelines; 
  • Experience in content development working with Canva, Adobe, or other design software;
  • Experience with website design and knowledge of SEO utilization and analytics;
  • Experience working with CRM software, Constant Contact, or Mail Chimp;
  • Skilled in standard office operations, computer applications, and business software, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace;  
  • Ability to complete all background checks and child safety requirements;
  • Ability to commute locally for content collection and other job-related duties.

Additional Info

Accountable To:  Executive Director

Classification:  Salaried/Full-time/Non-Exempt

Compensation:  $47,000 – $52,000 per year, based on experience 

Benefits:  12 Paid Holidays, 15 PTO days, $2,500 health stipend, 2% retirement match, reimbursement of business-related mileage and training, occasionally approved flex-time

Location:  Charlottesville, VA
