Part-time position open for Executive Director at
Literacy Council of Madison County.

Job Duties
- Day-to-Day Operations and Programs
- Maintain an appropriate schedule of regular business hours.
- Oversee the facility.
- Recruit and monitor tutors, volunteers, and others, as needed.
- Work with Officers of the Board to interview, train, and evaluate volunteers. Oversee transitions between volunteers.
- Monitor intake of learners and assure appropriate testing/retesting and assignments with tutors.
- Maintain materials, supplies, and teaching resources (purchasing as needed.)
- Maintain a balanced budget through communication with the Treasurer prior to major purchases.
- Assure that the Facebook page and website are up-to-date.
- Recordkeeping
- Maintain archives that recognize the Council’s history.
- Maintain records of Council meetings: minutes of board and membership meetings, financial reports, other documents presented for action or information.
- Maintain records of donors, funding sources, and grantors.
Prepare reports as requested, internally or externally
Skills Required
- Overall Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to identify, create, and implement plans for achieving the Literacy Council’s mission.
- Promote transparency and collaboration throughout the Council.
- Attend meetings of membership, Board, and committees of the Council.
- Develop partnerships within the community to promote the Council’s visibility, publicize its mission, and look for funding opportunities.
- Join with President to serve as a liaison with PRACEP, CNE, ProLiteracy, Northern Piedmont Community Foundation, as appropriate.
Work Schedule
4-5 days a week – 3-4 hours per day

- Develop and supervise a fundraising plan.
- Seek funding sources, such as grants or corporate donations.
- Write grant applications.
- Furnish required progress reports to granting agencies.
