The preferred hiring range for this position is between $17.01 and $25.49 an hour ($35,380.80 to $53,019.20 Annually). Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. - The City of Charlottesville manages its own retirement system and does not participate in VRS, however the City has a Portability Agreement with VRS. There are certain provisions that must be met and the portability request must be executed within 18 months of vesting in the City’s Plan. This position is responsible for all Aquatic Facility Operations, and maintenance to include two (2) indoor facilities and four (4) spray grounds. Performs other duties as assigned. May supervise the work of subordinate staff, which may include voluntary, temporary and benefited staff. Reports to a Maintenance Specialist IV or a Management Specialist I or II.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.
- At least three years of experience in a related field.
- Possession of a valid, appropriate driver’s permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Must be eligible to operate a City vehicle. (To view our driving eligibility requirements, visit https://www.charlottesville.gov/faq.aspx?qid=166);
- Certified Pool Operator certifications within 6 months of hire.

- Thorough knowledge of the trade(s) required in the maintenance, installation, repair and/or construction area assigned;
