New Energy Economy is seeking a Development Director

Location: Santa Fe, NM

Preferred Start Date: Immediate

Reports to Executive Director

New Energy Economy (“NEE”) is a non-profit public interest organization, located in Santa Fe,
New Mexico. NEE was founded in 2004. Our mission is to build a carbon-free energy future.
NEE is a watchdog known for our bold positions and legal challenges to New Mexico’s largest
corporation, the Public Service Company of New Mexico, and the oil and gas industry.

The Development Director is responsible for leading all development activities within New Energy Economy in order to raise funding for organization operations and program budgets and to cultivate internal systems and capacities that position the organization to grow. The organization is looking to expand its budget, staffing, and impact in the next few years. The Development Director will develop, implement and monitor a comprehensive plan to increase the size and depth of NEE’s current support base including identifying and strengthening relationships with community stakeholders, actively pursuing and managing corporate and individual leads, fostering strong donor and sponsor stewardship, and seeking, applying for and managing grant funding. This position will also be the lead staff in planning and producing NEE events geared toward cultivating and engaging supporters and sharing information about the impact of NEE’s work. Finally, the Development Director will work with NEE’s staff and board to increase the organization’s internal capacity to grow sustainably.

Pay: $75,000 per year with a review and potential increase based on experience after 6 months.

Job Duties

Duties and Responsibilities

● Design and implement a comprehensive Development Funding Plan annually which maintains the fiscal health of the organization and provides future financial resources for growth and expansion. Including but not limited to grant writing and management, corporate major giving, annual appeal development and management, third party events, and internal events.
● Develop strong relationships within the community to foster a positive image such that companies, schools, civic organizations and individuals will make New Energy Economy the local charity of choice for funding.
● Act as primary point of contact for funding, donations and fundraising event inquiries.
● Collect, organize, and maintain a complete and accurate database record of donors and funding received. Establishes tracking tools and monitors monthly.
● Design and produce annual giving campaign, as well as auxiliary marketing, promotional and outreach materials.
● Manage fundraising and community events.
● Coordinate media events; speak on behalf of organization with media outlets as needed.
● Perform networking at selected community and leadership events. Deliver presentations on programs to various community, corporate and groups as needed.
● Work with the staff and board to upgrade NEE’s internal systems in order to built capacity for growth.

Work Schedule

Generally 9-5pm with a hybrid of in-office and remote work possible. Schedule can be flexible.

Additional Info

Qualifications

● Related college or 5-6 years related experience preferred;
● 2-4 years management experience required;
● 2-4 years fundraising experience required;
● Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel required; Power Point preferred.
