Description

Fahrenheit Advisors is assisting our client, Bay Aging, in their search for a Controller. Bay Aging is an established nonprofit organization that provides programs and services people of all ages need to live independently. Servicing the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck, Bay Aging provides a range of services to the community that will assist them to remain independent in their chosen home.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will ensure financial stewardship and accurate reporting for the Agency’s programs in Health Living, Transportation, and Housing Services.

Job Duties

Responsibilities:

– Providing timely and accurate month-end close process to
include reconciliation of accounts payables and
receivables, cash accounts, bank statements, general
ledger, and indirect costs reconciliation.
– Prepare monthly financial data for internal circulation and
reports for the Department of Aging and Rehabilitation
Services (DARS).
– Annual accounting audits (preparation and assistance) and
auditing of Agency programs by funding sources.
– Working with CFO on special assignments to improve
efficiency and productivity of the Fiscal department
through process management and digital transformation,
e.g., introducing direct deposit for accounts receivables,
managing allocations within the GL software platform, etc.
– Responsible for reporting for specific programs.
– Daily support of payroll and accounts payable functions.

Skills Required

Required knowledge and experience:

– Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business and 3-5 years
of accounting experience in non-profit or government
organizations. (Degree requirement may be met with
significant experience in non-profit accounting.)
– Understanding and experience working with General
Accepted Accounting Principles.
– Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
– Experience with digital financial systems, (ADP Payroll
and/or Blackbaud Financial Edge is desired.)
– Financial procedures in non-profit accounting including
grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.
– Single Audit per CAFR 200 guidelines (strongly preferred.)

Work Schedule

Full-time salaried position located in Urbanna, VA.
