We are seeking a new Accounting Manager for our client project: HOMES a growing, non-profit organization that uses an all-encompassing approach to housing challenging the misconceptions of what defines affordable housing through the production and preservation of high-quality affordable homes, large-scale home repairs, and improved accessibility and energy efficiency for existing homes. This supervisory role reports to the CFO.

Job Duties

Summary of Job Responsibilities and Requirements

• Oversees two staff accountants and the operations of the Accounting Department, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
• Manages the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
• Works with external auditors and CFO and provides needed information for the annual audit.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
• Leverages accounting software and IT systems to effectively perform duties.
• Delivers with timeliness, accuracy, completeness, and effectively, to the highest ethical standards, and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles for non-profit entities and in accordance with the organization’s mission, values, and universal standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills Required

Key Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related area; Any combination of education and heavy accounts payable experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
• Minimum eight years of accounting required in multi-functional department
• Certified Public Accountant preferred or bookkeeping experience to include, but not limited to: double-entry accounting (debits, credits), and reconciliations; understands the chart of accounts, trial balance, and balance sheet.
• Experience with automated accounts payable process such as Sage 100/MAS 90 preferred.
• Highly skilled with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and Zoom teleconferencing platforms as well as experience with standard office equipment.
• Experience in non-profit and / or grant accounting a plus.
• Demonstrates experience in knowledge of accounting theory and practices for non-profits desirable.
• Promotes and adheres to company’s mission, vision and values, policies and applicable laws in a fair and equitable manner.
• Represents the organization in a professional manner to all customers, vendors, and internal personnel.
• Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 8AM to 5PM and Friday 8AM-12PM. Potential for some teleworking.
• Successfully complete pre-employment background screening.
