Description

Executive Directodar / CEO
Association for Research & Enlightenment
Virginia Beach, Virginia

The Organization
The Ideal of the Association for Research and Enlightenment is: “Global Manifestation of Oneness and the Love of God and All People.” The Mission of the Association for Research and Enlightenment is: “To create opportunities for profound personal change in body, mind, and spirit through the wisdom found in the Edgar Cayce material.”

The Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) (www.EdgarCayce.org) was founded in 1931 to preserve, research and disseminate the information in over 14,000 psychic discourses (readings) of Edgar Cayce. Today it consists of three legal entities, A.R.E., Atlantic University (A.U.), and the Edgar Cayce Foundation (E.C.F.) and is a worldwide organization with approximately 17,000 members. With an operating budget of between $7 to $8 million and total assets of approximately $18 million, its primary sources of revenue are: contributions, fees for tuition from conferences and tours, membership dues, and book sales. The organization currently employs 80 individuals and utilizes the supplemental help of approximately 100 volunteers in Virginia Beach. The headquarters facility consists of a 4.5-acre campus across the street from the Atlantic Ocean.

The A.R.E. also maintains ongoing interactions with volunteers across the country and at “Cayce Centers” globally. Ongoing activities of the organization include online education (A.U.), conferences and events, spiritual discussion groups, membership activities, a metaphysical library (approximately 80,000 volumes), a bookstore, health center and spa, a café, and two accredited schools – Atlantic University (A.U.) (www.AtlanticUniv.edu) and the Cayce/Reilly School of Massage (www.CayceReilly.edu).

The four “Ends Policies” used by the Board of Trustees to guide the organization are (in brief):

1. Education: The A.R.E. leads in the transformation of world consciousness through educational initiatives that help individuals, groups, and organizations understand and apply the principles found in the Cayce Readings.

2. Research: The A.R.E. is founded on the principles of research and application of the voluminous spiritual concepts, health information, and life readings found in the Edgar Cayce Readings. Guided by the principle that research and application lead to a path of enlightenment, the A.R.E. will be a worldwide center for souls seeking to explore the purpose and nature of life in the earth plane.

3. Application: The A.R.E. fosters application, by individuals and groups, of information contained in the Edgar Cayce Readings so that the Work may benefit body, mind, and spirit. The A.R.E. facilitates opportunities for transformative personal experiences to help build physical health and to awaken and develop the spiritual life of each individual.

4. Outreach: In order to advance a global transformation of consciousness, the A.R.E. builds broad public awareness of the principles and hope found within the Edgar Cayce Readings. The A.R.E. protects the integrity and ownership of the readings, while maintaining widespread access to them.

Edgar Cayce – Edgar Cayce (1877-1945) has been called the “sleeping prophet,” the “father of holistic medicine,” and the most documented psychic of the 20th century. For more than 40 years of his adult life, Cayce gave psychic “readings” to thousands of seekers while in an unconscious state, accurately diagnosing illnesses and giving advice for their treatment as well as offering spiritual discourses and guidance. The majority of Edgar Cayce’s 14,000+ readings deal with holistic health and the treatment of illness, however in their entirety, the readings discuss an astonishing 10,000 different topics which can be narrowed down to five basic categories: (1) Health-Related Information; (2) Philosophy and Reincarnation; (3) Dreams and Dream Interpretation; (4) ESP and Psychic Phenomena; and (5) Spiritual Growth, Meditation, and Prayer.
