Description
Habitat for Humanity is currently seeking a full-time Director of Home Construction.
As we begin the physical redevelopment of Southwood, Habitat is restructuring operations in
order to double our current building production capacity. The Director of Home Construction
will play a key senior management role in helping the organization to achieve the next step in its
growth, while specifically addressing the current need to streamline the home construction
process and procedures by coordination of staff, subcontractors, and volunteers.
The Director of Home Construction will work closely with the Chief Construction Officer, the
Director of Land Development, the Director
Job Duties
Oversee construction team of 2-3 Site Supervisors, 4-6 Crew Leaders, and Volunteers
Develop and manage build construction budgets, schedules, and cash flow
Participate in the creation of home owner association and condo association documents
Review of site plans for value engineering including consistency with Habitat level of
quality and knowledge of the Americans With Disabilities Act
Offer guidance to design and procurement team
Participate in weekly project management meetings
Assist in procurement and pricing exercises
Perform skilled tasks on construction sites when needed
Act as on-site supervisor for rehab projects when needed
Job will likely involve 75% of time spent out of the office and 25% in the office

Commitment to Habitat for Humanity’s mission of affordable housing
Minimum 10 years of experience with residential construction
Comfortable in a fast paced production builder type environment
Understanding of sustainable and green building practices
Successful and proven home construction portfolio
Superior communication skills (both verbal and written)
Strong sense of empathy and understanding of others’ perspectives
Proven ability to work well with diverse populations including sponsors, partner families,
staff, volunteers, community leaders, and board members
Ability to think creatively and solutions oriented
Strong organizational skills including ability to multi-task effectively
Basic computer skills including email & MS Office
College degree in construction, civil engineering, business, or related field a plus
Work Schedule
Full time, Salaried. Will include some weekends.
