Description
Sin Barreras is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering the immigrant community through direct services, education and advocacy, regardless of status and focusing on the Hispanic population of greater Charlottesville. In 2020, our services have shifted dramatically to respond to pandemic related needs of the community we serve. Most in person activities were cancelled and we’ve switched to as much remote support as possible. Sin Barreras continues its core services of legal and immigration support, its advocacy, and the essential Covid-19 related services and programming. At the same time, the needs for our other programming are as important as ever.
The Program Coordinator would lead the return of multiple programs (ESL classes and tutoring, citizenship tutoring, GED classes, leadership classes, Driver’s License/Privilege Card preparation, and civic engagement) through innovative and practical ways for people to participate remotely, and use staff and volunteers as a resource for the benefit of community members. This role would be a team member supporting in more ways that promote our overall mission. This position is intended to end after one year, with responsibilities transitioning to other staff and/or volunteers.

- Setting up sustainable programs through documented procedures, team presentations, identifying volunteer program leads, and transitioning program responsibilities to other staff at the end of one year.
- Implementing a transparent method of tracking and updating status of programs for effective management and collaboration with staff, board and key volunteers.
Skills Required
