Additional Info
The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) is a non-profit, multi-disciplinary artists residency program of international scope with locations in pastoral Amherst County, VA and in Auvillar, an historic village in southwestern France. Founded in 1971, VCCA provides residential fellowships to writers, visual artists and composers to work free from the distraction of everyday life. They are selected through a merit-based peer review process.
VCCA is governed by a self-perpetuating Board of Directors. The Board meets four times per year and does most of its work through standing committees that meet on a regular calendar throughout the year. Its supporting organization, VCCA Abroad, has a separate Board, with some overlapping directors.
