Position Summary
The Manning Family Foundation is seeking a Community Relations & Impact Manager to play an instrumental part in maintaining and developing partnerships in the Charlottesville community as well evaluate the impact of grant funds donated to help shape future decisions regarding grant allocation. The Community Relations & Impact Manager will provide essential administrative, technical, and customer service support for the Foundation’s grant-making operations. This role ensures the grant lifecycle—from inquiry and application through due-diligence, approval, payment, reporting, and evaluation—is managed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with Foundation policies and compliance requirements. The Community Relations & Impact Manager serves as a key point of contact for applicants and grantees, supports internal workflows and reporting, maintains data quality in the grants management system, and contributes to a consistent, professional grantee experience.
Reporting Relationship
Reports to the Vice President, Programs and Grants within the family office.
Job Duties
Key Responsibilities
Process grants applications, conduct due diligence, manage payments and reporting requirements.
Maintain grant database system and provide technical support to applicants when necessary
Serve as a primary point of contact for grant inquiries and eligibility questions.
Communicate clearly and professionally with applicants and grantees throughout the grant process.
Assist in maintaining compliance with Foundation policies and applicable regulations.
Work with existing organizations to ensure grant responsibilities are being met, and help develop future funding opportunities
Manage and foster partnerships with assigned existing grantees, as well as search for new grant partnerships that align with the Foundation’s funding priorities
Represent the Foundation in the Charlottesville community and participate in learning opportunities regarding the issues we support
Use data and other grantee reporting to evaluate progress, and assist Vice President, Programs and Grants in designing reports and summaries to present to the Board
Support system improvements and workflow enhancements.
Assist with preparation of grant materials for Board or committee review.
Support annual reporting and special grant-related projects.
Skills Required
Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in grants administration, nonprofit operations, or foundation support.
4-year college degree
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with grants management systems preferred.
Work Schedule
This is an in-office part-time position at 20-25 hours per week.
